Are pedalled bikes allowed in the San Diego freeway..?
I want to commute from La Jolla area to Barnes Canyon road through my bike. Google maps indicates a path which passes through a small section of the Dan Diego Freeway (From the place where Genesee avenue meets the San Diego freeway to Roselle Street) I just wanted to know whether this piece of San Diego Freeway is really bike-able or not…How do I know if a particular stretch or road is bike-able or not
This use to be the case years ago as there was no other access to the Sorrento Valley area. There were bike route signs posted on the freeway shoulder between Genesee and Sorrento Valley Rd. I don’t see the signs anymore so it’s possible that they have developed an alternate route. This small stretch was the only piece of the local freeway that allowed bicycles.
BTW The other poster is wrong. There are sections of freeways in California that allow bikes. One such section is on the I-5 from Las Pulgas Road to Oceanside on Camp Pendleton.
