LaJolla: the Beverly Hills of San Diego

With panoramic views over the sea, palm trees and a perfect climate, La Jolla, is like Hawaii without the five-hour flight.

This was twenty years ago and had just returned from our first experience with long distance travel an unforgettable experience, the trip opened my eyes to Hawaii, has exposed some soggy Pacific Northwest college students to sun and warm salt water did not even know existed. The next month was taken vacation in southern California when we got to La Jolla and has been as Yogi would say, d? seen again.

Undoubtedly, the water in southern California was prettier that was hot. And there seems not too much of Hawaii Hawaiians have much either. What I had was from La Jolla sight and bright sun, and found that days that live there again.

With time we live and work there, if only for a short period of time, and this special coastal retreat their promises. The Village, "as it is called Girard Avenue and the surrounding community, is a gourmet blend these spices that make life so pleasant dining, shopping world class, countless outdoor activities, surf, sand, amazing views and, of course, almost constant sunshine.

Today, the value of local homes are priced in the common man and if you live there, You have done well either to you or had the luck to grow up in a family that bought a local real roots behind when the local land prices were reasonable, probably at times just after the state. But there are two groups of people living temporarily in the village: the tenants and tourists. Tenants plunk thousands each month by the excavations strict tourists stay only briefly, but significantly cheaper.

That's why it is pleased to be a tourist in La Jolla. With a choice of several hotels and spas in good taste and, yes, some are quite reasonably priced Visitors can not claim live life for a few days and go home with money in their pockets.

All begins with the parade of people looking down on Gerard Avenue. Plan for a sandwich with one of several gourmet coffees, then puree in a table outside. Head of the parade is a bomb of 20-something dressed in a rope spaghetti and capris, poodle pulling a five-inch that is decidedly disinterested in being part of this parade. Next step: a 30-something guy with a clean cut their ankles lumberjack boots, pants crashed in high boots and a long sleeve shirt under his belt buckle. We need new La Jolla so due to its small friendly style 20-something like a model does not seem the least embarrassed to walk beside him. Then comes two 30-something men, dressed almost identically in turtlenecks, jackets and shades of expensive sport, especially in the sweltering midday sun, but fresh in their minds. And so all through lunch, which makes it almost worth the cost of nine dollars for a sandwich.

You might even see celebrities in this corner of the country. We got to Geena Davis and her children once, while the beautiful people like Cindy Crawford have bought homes in the village. Barbra Streisand says she bought her wedding ring at the bottom Bowers Jewelers. Film and TV filming the series are frequent and long Silk Stalkings used the local landscape quite frequently to describe the brightness glamorous Southern California.

Gerard down just a little ways and seems to be very tempted to get out your credit card. There are specialty stores like Rangoni shoes, art galleries like Cosmopolitan Fine Arts and the images of nature, and more typical "center" stores like Banana Republic and Gap. side streets have their own offerings, many of them related to health, fitness and wellness, even if you need a minor operation plastic surgery to feel good.

Gerard is one of the two main streets of town. Also famous for shopping is Prospect Avenue, which also has many trendy shops and popular restaurants. George output spectacular ocean views and award-winning cuisine. Brockton Villa is another right next to that perspective appears to be a favorite. A Caesar salad on the terrace Moondoggie can be a refreshing break and relatively cheap as land breezes find their way to this part of the district commercial. Located just Scripps Park is not like Cody outdoor cafes, the French part of the West and Seafood Gourmet Fay.

Scripps Park is, in fact, a block from the main shopping area, but it has nothing commercial. You can find a support shirt bridges ecology but especially the grass and encourage winding friends lovers and families walk through one of the most picturesque beaches in California. The coast is irregular and rocky places, while providing at the same time to the beach, enough to expose their beach towels in a little privacy. Stroll around 10 minutes south and is located in La Jolla Cove where you can view the local seals basking on a beautiful beach.

Running along the eastern edge of Scripps Park is a path container that is often used as a cycle track between La Jolla and the spa town of Pacific Beach more. The drive takes us through the beautiful neighborhoods is never far away and sea views through the fascinating city of Birdrock. She is also artistic but such Once the mode of a notch in the price.

The La Jolla Shores is located north of downtown and offers a mile long beach where locals and tourists flock for outdoor activities. Close are the expensive homes in the area of La Jolla Shores and a few hotels and a small shopping area.

Nearby is a marine reserve as is common to see divers preparing their dives into the abyss. If you are under water, to find other ways to be closer to the ocean as a palette kayak in an area near what is known as the caves of La Jolla. Or you can actually descend into the caves by visiting the La Jolla Cave and Shell Shop, where there is a transition 145-step Sunny Jim Cave, the largest of these caves.

Another favorite by the sea is the Birch Aquarium, a popular place for families to look closely at marine life as coral reefs, lagoons and even sharks. The aquarium has a reservoir of 70,000 liters of many sea creatures are exposed.

If you want to Getting around the region, the spectacular home is worth. A record is particularly pleasing to the head of Nautilus Street to the highest altitude of the city on Mount Soledad Cross Memorial dedicated to veterans of both World Wars and the Korean War. Although there was a political tug of war about whether the cross will remain the point of Given this part of La Jolla offers some of the best ways to see the topography of the entire area of San Diego.
