Zhang Huan is known as one of the most important artists of the new wave of history Huan China.Zhang personal and family – and collective – a nation emerging from the brutality of the Cultural Revolution, famine, political repression, ideological zeal, and the difficulties of everyday life in China.Zhang is considered one of the most influential artists who belonged to the group of "Beijing East Village" a kind of art colony located in the rural outskirts of Beijing.
Zhang Huan was born in 1963, 3 January, in a city of Yang, He Nan Province, China.

Zhang, 40, pioneering work performance in China the 1990s. He moved to New York in 1998. His work fits perfectly in a tradition that includes Joseph Beuys (who were locked in a room wrapped with a coyote for five days in 1974) and Yoko Ono (who sat motionless while audience members took turns to cut clothing in 1964). In this work, the body the artist becomes a metaphor for all of us and our existential angst that sometimes no less absurd than being pecked by pigeons.Zhang 's proceedings where involve your body in one direction or another, usually naked, occasionally involving masochistic actions, citing the body as the primary means of communication, he described as the only means by which people experience the world and vice versa.
Zhang chose as his Performance Art form primary because of his relationship intrinsic body. Performance "to add a meter to an anonymous Mountain" took place in rural China, many performers are at the top otherwise mitigated in a pyramid.
