Things to do in San Diego, Ca?

I'm planning a trip to San Diego for a day somewhere in September or October, which are the fun things to do in San Diego? I've seen a couple of places and things to do, such as whale watching, Cabrillo National Park, and I know that La Jolla Cove diving. What happens is that I know how cold it will be then. I also want to go somewhere where there is much to do and see. Suggestions? Thanks
